Abia Shall Rise Again —Ceekay Igara’s Democracy Day Message

Ceekay Igara, fondly known as David of Abia, has joined citizens across the states in celebrating Nigeria’s democratic journey.
In his address e-signed by Meche Oswald, coordinating focal person, David of Abia Media Directorate Central Media Hub (CMH) Umuahia, Abia State, Igara emphasized that democracy is not merely a date on the calendar but a living practice of accountability, participation, and shared responsibility.
In his assessment of the current well-being situations of the state and of a diverse audience of communities, youth, and citizens of the state in general, Igara reflected on Abia’s history of resilience and industrious spirit while acknowledging the challenges that remain. He highlighted the importance of honest dialogue, civic engagement, and collective action in building a stronger future.
Central to his message is the rallying call: “Abia shall rise again.” Igara explained that this phrase is not a slogan for one individual but a shared promise for all Abians. It represents hope for better infrastructure, stronger schools, accessible healthcare, and safer communities.
“Abia shall rise again means restoring hope through practical action — roads that connect farms to markets, schools that prepare our children for tomorrow, clinics that deliver care when needed, and communities where families thrive,” Igara said.
He outlined key priorities for civic renewal, including:
– Education and Youth Empowerment — investing in schools and vocational training.
– Infrastructure and Jobs — expanding roads, power, and broadband to unlock opportunities.
– Healthcare and Social Services — strengthening primary care and maternal health.
– Good Governance and Transparency — ensuring accountability and citizen oversight.
– Community Safety and Inclusion — fostering reconciliation and amplifying every voice.
Igara concluded by urging citizens to embrace democracy beyond elections, through volunteering, attending town halls, and holding institutions accountable.
“On this Democracy Day, let us renew our commitment to one another. Let us turn aspiration into action so that the words Abia shall rise again become a living reality for every family and every community,” he affirmed.
