Ifo Local Government Area (LGA) in Ogun State, which hosts the long-abandoned Agbado-Ijoko Road, received at least N5.24 billion from the federal government as part of its Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funding but left the road in its impassable condition.

The LGA received this funding between August 2025 and March 2026. This is despite the prolonged abandonment and false rehabilitation claims that residents have had to deal with.

According to the data transparency website built by BudgIT, the LGA has received an average of N500 million nearly every month, with its funding peaking as high as N977 million in December 2025.

MONTHS (2025)          ALLOCATION RECEIVED

AUGUST           N541,205,202.31

SEPTEMBER    N732,091,128.46

OCTOBER        N557,774,304.38

NOVEMBER     N557,774,304.38

DECEMBER     N977,379,057.22

2026

JANUARY         N544,795,037.62

FEBRUARY       N866,720,348.29

MARCH           N467,306,965.08

All the allocations received by Ifo LGA within this timeframe amount to N5,242,130,801.66

This is despite the stretch of road leading into the area being impassable for decades.

When the Dapo Abiodun-led administration placed a signpost announcing repairs at Rafco and also did some sand filling around the area, residents said that they knew it was a campaign strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, since the state government erected the signpost in April, no work has been done there.

A resident of the area who been speaking over the road’s worsening condition said on Monday afternoon that no sign of the work announced by Abiodun’s government has been seen.

“They’re yet to start the announced repairs,” the resident said.

“They’re yet to bring granite, sand or even equipment for the repairs. And things have now worsened beyond control with the rain.”

Between August 2024 and August 2025 Ifo LG received N7.8 billion.

Agbado – Oja – Opeilu – Oke Aro Road is the only one connecting many residents of the towns to the Federal Government-owned train station and neighbouring Iju-Ishaga in Lagos State. The bad road sits on the border of Lagos and Ogun.
