Beyond anti-incumbency: Olawepo-Hashim’s alliance sparks a new national development drive for Nigeria’s future

Tinubu, Olawepo-hashim

The recent historic assembly of newly emerged political leader and prominent pro-democracy and opposition leaders in Port Harcourt, Rivers State represent a new development in the nation’s definitive political shift. The collaborative initiative spearheaded and coordinated by frontline democrat and political leader Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, presidential candidate of the accord party, transcends typical election-year political alliances. It represents a comprehensive, fundamental New National Development Drive engineered to rescue Nigeria’s economy, security, and democratic integrity.
The initiative successfully united Dr. Olawepo-Hashim (Accord), Mr. Omoyele Sowore (African Action Congress – AAC), and Prince Adewole Adebayo (Social Democratic Party – SDP). While critical but myopic mainstream political observers may frame this alliance solely as a defensive move against the administration of President Bola Tinubu, Nation-Building advocates believe the core mission of the newly budding alliance initiative as a new effort to change the national psyche to kick-start the process of replacing transactional politics with a value-driven blueprint for national revival.
Going through the identified 6 pillars of the new development; Institutional Reform & Democratic Accountability, Economic Justice & Mass Employment Agendas, Holistic Security, Intelligence & Defense Reforms, Social Inclusion [Workers, Youth, and Women], Civil Liberties & Immediate Rule of Law Reversals and National Unity Rooted in Diversity and Equity, This Initiative indeed, represent a new National Development Drive, Not a Mere Alliance.
Firstly, the six pillars represent Ideology over Ambition declaring that individual ambitions are secondary to the larger national interest. The ultimate focus is creating an alliance built on structural and ideological unity. Secondly, the development represent preventing a Pre-determined Coronation showing that Nigeria’s competitive multi-party system is shrinking into a one-party autocracy. This movement guarantees that the 2027 polls remain a real choice for citizens, ensuring power stays with the electorate. Thirdly, the development is a Blueprint Built on Justice that explicitly warned that true national unity cannot not exist without addressing systemic inequalities and thereby calls for judicial review for citizens detained over peaceful political expressions, regional cultural advocacy and for other politically motivated reasons. Fourthly, the development represent Grassroots Consolidation that discourage limiting discussions to elite political circles, instead the initiative is aimed at building a broad coalition which aimed to mobilize workers, professional bodies, youth networks, market groups, and civil society organizations.
Finally, the Leadership and Vision of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim and his history of standing against dictatorship and one-party dominance forms the foundation of this great effort. His commitment and dedication to nation building and strategic coordination of this great alliance initiative has the potential to turn the fragmented folds of the opposition into a unified political front. This structure offers a credible, governing alternative focused on real economic solutions, public safety, and institutional accountability. The ballot box belongs to the people of Nigeria. This new initiative could spark a new process and drive a new national momentum to return that power to them. This great alliance should be nurtured to maturity ahead and beyond the 2027 general election.
