Bloodbath in Kuru as terrorists kill two soldiers, policeman at NIPSS

Gunmen have struck at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, near Jos, Plateau State, killing wo soldiers and one policeman.
The attack came barely 24 hours after troops in Jos South arrested a high-profile suspect linked to an interstate illegal arms trafficking network.
Investigators are looking into whether the raid on NIPSS was a coordinated retaliatory strike.
NIPSS confirmed that a security incident occurred around the institute, assuring that investigations were ongoing and promising to provide details once facts had been established.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs Department of NIPSS, Dr Osime Samuel, the institute said the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday but was swiftly contained through the prompt intervention of security personnel and relevant security agencies.
“The situation was promptly brought under control through the swift response of security personnel and relevant security agencies,” the statement said.
Security forces are also said to be tracking the retreat path of the armed assailants into the surrounding hills and neighbouring communities.
