“How Gboyega Oyetola Blocked Me From Joining APC” -ADELEKE

Governor Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reportedly revealed how his predecessor and now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, prevented him from crossing from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Adeleke disclosed this during an interview with a private television station in Osogbo on Friday.

His words: “My friends in the APC told me that the President has said he will not rig elections for anyone, regardless of party affiliation or personal relationships.

“The President is the father of all. If he had truly wanted me in the APC, he would have called all parties involved, including Gboyega Oyetola, to a roundtable discussion.

Governor Adeleke spoke further: “I also experienced difficulties during my attempt to meet with the President in Abuja at the time, which I believe affected the process.

He revealed that he spent four days in Abuja waiting to meet President Bola Tinubu, but was prevented from doing so by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

The failed meeting was during the period that the state structure of the then People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had endorsed the plan by Senator Ademola Adeleke to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the meeting was arranged after the National Security Adviser informed him that the President wanted to see him.

“As an Executive Governor, I left my state and went there. I stayed for four days, but Oyetola blocked me from seeing him,” Adeleke added.

He also claimed that feelers from the presidency have indicated that the President has said he is not going to rig for anybody in the August 15 election.
